        1954年出生于德国柏林的保罗•特兰克,从小就聪明伶俐,争强好胜,什么事都想做到最好,他梦想着有一天能成为万众瞩目的闪耀明星,也享受被人关注并喜欢的感觉。直到30岁生日的那一天,保罗慢慢地回想着这三十年来自己的生活,才发现虽然每天都是非常忙碌地上下班,过着白领的生活,可是除了忙碌外,仍旧是什么都没有,这好像和他梦想的生活情境完全不一样。从此,保罗开始感觉到一种从未有过的人生危机感,并且想要改变这种繁忙又枯燥的生活状态的想法,慢慢的在他心里蔓延开来。
1984年的一天,保罗和几个朋友在咖啡馆聚会。聊得正欢时,一位时尚界朋友把话题转移到了时尚造型上,此时,保罗异常兴奋,感觉自己有说不完的话要和朋友们分享。保罗平时特别注重外表的穿着打扮是否个性、时尚,且他所学的专业,以及这些年来所从事的几乎都是与时尚相关的工作。就在保罗畅谈时尚时,不知不觉已经聊了一下午,临近散场的时候,保罗还意犹未尽,还在滔滔不绝地诉说着自己对时尚的独特观点以及与时尚的不解姻缘。
